Triathlon raises ?6807.18 for local charities
The sprint-distance Triathlon at Sport Lancaster this year raised ?6807.18 for local charities, St John's Hospice and Cancer Care.
The annual event began in 2016 in memory of Dr Andy Bailey, a much loved and respected colleague at Lancaster University Management School from 1997-2015 who died suddenly at the age of 49.
Since its inception, the Triathlon has raised over ?37,000 for St John's Hospice and Cancer Care combined.
The 400m swim, 20km bike ride, and 5km run was completed by 148 participants, which includes 71 first time triathletes and 5 teams.
Sam Cadwallader, Wellbeing & Engagement Manager at Sport Lancaster, commented:
“Over nine months of preparation, there are far too many people to thank individually. There has been lots of supporting in so many ways behind the scenes, including the committee who worked together to set up the event.”
